The General Manager, Construction Development and Co-ordination is a senior leadership position at the National Construction Authority (NCA) responsible for overseeing the Compliance, Enforcement, and Quality Assurance directorate. The role is pivotal in regulating, streamlining, and building capacity within Kenya's construction industry. The successful candidate will coordinate the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and regulations to ensure the safety, security, and quality of construction works across the nation.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Coordinating the development, implementation, and review of policies, strategies, legislations, and frameworks for compliance and quality assurance.\n- Spearheading consultancy and advisory services regarding industry compliance.\n- Ensuring quality assurance and overseeing standardization of construction techniques and materials.\n- Regulating contractors’ professional undertakings and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements by other agencies.\n- Overseeing the development and publication of the code of conduct for the construction industry.\n- Implementing standards for design, construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of works.\n- Managing disaster management and infrastructure service standards at construction sites.\n- Ensuring products and systems conform to statutory requirements and standards.\n- Leading business continuity planning and maintaining a Risk Management Register for the directorate.\n- Promoting Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and fostering a corporate culture of ethics.\n- Providing technical advice on material behavior and structural integrity using non-destructive test methods.\n- Supporting investigations and prosecutions with laboratory test results.\n- Investigating occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences to prevent recurrence.\n- Overseeing project registration and the collection of construction levies.\n\n### Requirements for Appointment\n- Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years’ work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Manager or a comparable position.\n- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution.\n- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration, or Project Planning and Management.\n- Active membership in good standing with AAK, IQSK, or IEK.\n- Professional registration with BORAQS or the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).\n- Valid professional practicing license.\n- Certificate in a leadership course (minimum 4 weeks) from a recognized institution.\n- Proficiency in computer applications.\n- Demonstrated managerial and administrative competence.\n- Understanding of national goals and the NCA’s mandate.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested applicants should submit their applications through the authority’s recruitment portal: .
