Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a qualified Full-Time Trainer for the German Language. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality German language instruction, developing curriculum-aligned materials, and assessing student performance to ensure progressive learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Planning: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned units in accordance with the course curriculum and outlines.
Learning Materials: Develop appropriate learning materials and ensure timely preparation and submission of professional records.
Student Monitoring: Maintain accurate records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Individualized Learning: Plan and deliver appropriate learning plans tailored to individual student needs.
Assessment and Grading: Assess student work, mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts) and end-of-term assessments, and ensure timely uploading of marks into the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Instruction: Carry out practical instructions for trainees and maintain their portfolios of evidence.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments to ensure academic integrity.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum standards.
Administrative Support: Participate in departmental meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Certification: Possession of a valid Goethe Institute certification with at least a B2 level proficiency in German.
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree in a relevant field.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching the German Language.
Core Competencies: Strong communication, intercultural, and instructional design skills.
