The university is seeking to recruit a Full-Time Lecturer in Virology to join its Medical School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering academic instruction, conducting research, and providing mentorship to students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
Instructional Preparation: Prepare teaching materials, class methodologies, and activities for effective curriculum delivery.
Assessment: Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and ensure timely student assessment through examination setting, moderation, and marking.
Research & Supervision: Guide undergraduate and graduate students in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Grant Writing: Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the research portfolio of the school.
Scholarly Output: Engage in publishing papers and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Academic Standards: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline to shape curriculum content and design.
Record Management: Ensure accurate student records, including registers and achievement reports, are updated in the Academic Management System.
Collaboration: Partner with other researchers internally and internationally to establish linkages and contribute to the school's research objectives.
Administrative Duties: Perform administrative tasks including leadership of academic programmes or participation in school committees.
Requirements
Education: Must have a Masters of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution.
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Experience: At least three years of teaching and research experience at the university level.
Professional Background: Relevant work experience in the industry is required.
Licensure: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the relevant professional body.
PhD Status: An earned PhD in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
