Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a Full-Time Lecturer in Physiology to join the Medical School. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, keeping abreast of developments within the academic discipline, and contributing to the school's research objectives through publications and grant writing. The Lecturer reports to the Dean of the Medical School.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality learning experiences through the preparation of teaching materials, class methodology, and actual curriculum delivery.
Ensure content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet defined learning objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Handle examination setting, moderation, administration, and timely marking for students.
Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum.
Guide undergraduate and graduate students in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Update and maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, and assessments in the Academic Management System.
Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the research portfolio of the school.
Engage in publishing papers and participating in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaborate with internal and international researchers to establish research linkages.
Undertake administrative duties including leadership of academic programs and membership in university committees.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Must have a Master of Medicine in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at the university level.
Relevant work experience in the industry.
Must be registered and licensed to practice by the relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD is an added advantage.
