Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified Full-Time Lecturer in Oral Health to join the Medical School. The role involves academic instruction, research, and administrative support to promote human resource development in the medical field.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum for both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Deliver high-quality learning experiences through prepared teaching materials and classroom activities.
- Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs), set, moderate, and mark examinations.
- Ensure learning materials and delivery methods meet defined objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
- Guide and supervise students in identifying research topics, concept development, and proposal development.
- Maintain accurate student records, including registers and achievement data, in the Academic Management System.
- Identify and apply for research funding through grant writing.
- Publish research papers and participate in professional seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and advance the school's research goals.
- Undertake administrative duties such as leading academic programs or serving on various committees as required.
Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: Master of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from recognized institutions.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
- Professional Standing: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the relevant Professional Body.
- Industry Experience: Proven relevant work experience within the industry.
- Added Advantages: An earned PhD in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD.
