We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Lecturer in Gross & Clinical Pathology to join our Medical School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, keeping abreast of developments within the academic discipline, and contributing to the university's research objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences through the preparation of teaching materials and class activities.
Assessment: Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and ensure timely student assessment through the preparation, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations.
Student Mentorship: Guide undergraduate and graduate students in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Academic Standards: Ensure that content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet defined learning objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Record Keeping: Ensure accurate student records, including registers, reports, and assessments, are updated in the Academic Management System.
Research & Development: Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the research portfolio of the school.
Scholarly Activity: Engage in publishing papers and participating in/presenting at workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish research linkages.
Administration: Undertake administrative duties as required, including leadership of academic programmes or committee memberships.
Requirements and Qualifications
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Specialization: Masters of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the industry.
Licensure: Registered and licensed to practice by the relevant Professional Body.
Advanced Qualification: An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD is an added advantage.
