The Medical School is seeking a Full-Time Lecturer in Geriatrics to deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. The role involves curriculum delivery, student assessment, research supervision, and administrative duties under the direction of the Dean, Medical School.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery: Deliver high-quality learning experiences through the preparation of teaching materials, class methodologies, and adherence to the curriculum. Ensure learning materials meet defined objectives and are regularly reviewed.
Assessment and Examination: Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and manage the setting, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations.
Research and Supervision: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision. Identify sources of funding through grant writing and engage in publishing papers and attending professional seminars.
Record Management: Maintain and update accurate student records, including registers, reports, and achievement data in the Academic Management System.
Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and contribute to the school's research objectives.
Administrative Support: Undertake administrative duties as requested, including leadership of academic programmes and committee participation.
Professional Development: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline or professional practice to shape curriculum content.
Qualifications and Requirements
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Specialization: Masters of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the industry.
Licensure: Registered and licensed to practice by the relevant Professional Body.
Advanced Degree: An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
