Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Lecturer in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) to join its Medical School. This role involves delivering academic excellence through teaching, research, and administrative support to advance the school's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum, deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, and prepare relevant teaching materials.
Assessment: Handle examination setting, administration, and marking, including Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and ensuring timely student feedback.
Curriculum Development: Stay current with developments in the ENT academic discipline and professional practice to shape and improve curriculum content and design.
Student Mentorship: Guide undergraduate and graduate students in research topic identification, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Academic Administration: Maintain accurate student records in the Academic Management System and undertake leadership duties or committee memberships as assigned by the Dean.
Research & Collaboration: Identify research funding through grant writing, publish academic papers, and present at conferences. Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Masters of Medicine in the relevant area of specialization (ENT) from a recognized institution.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Professionalism: Must have relevant work experience in the industry and be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
Additional Advantage: An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or being registered for a PhD will be a significant advantage.
