It has an overall goal of promoting human resource development for society’s progressive good. The university is seeking a Full-Time Lecturer-Clinical Pathologist to join the Medical School team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality learning experiences, engage in research, and contribute to the administrative and academic growth of the university.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through prepared materials and class activities.
Assessment: Administration of Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs), as well as setting, moderating, administering, and marking examinations in a timely manner.
Student Mentorship: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Research and Publication: Engage in publishing papers and attend/present at workshops, conferences, and professional seminars. Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages.
Grant Writing: Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the research portfolio at the school.
Administrative Duties: Ensure accurate student records are updated in the Academic Management System. Undertake administrative duties such as leadership of academic programmes or membership of various committees when required.
Professional Development: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline to shape curriculum content and design.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Master of Medicine in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Professionalism: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the relevant professional body.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the industry is required.
Added Advantage: An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
