As the Finance Business Partnering Manager at M-KOPA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial performance across multiple markets and business units. This is a strategic partnership position where you will lead a team of finance professionals to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will be responsible for translating complex financial data into compelling narratives for senior leadership, ensuring that every financial decision contributes to the company's mission of expanding economic access across Africa.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Planning and Budgeting: Run planning and budgeting cycles with your team, ensuring submissions across all cost centres are commercially grounded and defensible under scrutiny.
Performance Frameworks: Develop performance frameworks—dashboards, KPIs, variance analysis—that drive genuine accountability rather than retrospective comfort.
Strategic Business Cases: Build business cases for strategic investments, new market initiatives, and product launches across M-KOPA's footprint.
Strategic Communication: Translate complex financial analysis into compelling narratives for non-finance audiences to drive informed decision-making.
Team Development: Conduct coaching conversations and performance reviews that build careers and standardize best practices across markets to ensure consistent quality in partnering.
Stakeholder Management: Partner with Group-level leadership, market GMs, commercial directors, and technology leads who expect finance to bring answers, not just analysis.
What Makes This Role Different
Impact: Most finance leadership roles ask you to manage financial performance; this role asks you to shape it across multiple markets and business units.
Engagement: You won't be presenting to passively interested stakeholders. You'll be working with leaders who rely on finance for strategic direction.
Mission-Driven: Your work contributes to a business that is directly expanding economic access across Africa.
Requirements
Professional Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Experience: A strong post-qualification track record in Business Partnering, FP&A, or Commercial Finance.
Leadership: Demonstrable experience leading and developing finance teams.
Stakeholder Skills: Proven ability to partner with senior business stakeholders, translating financial complexity into clear strategic recommendations.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience across budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial modelling in complex, multi-entity environments.
Commercial Acumen: Strong ability to connect financial data to business performance drivers.
