Agsol manufactures leading-edge solar-powered agro-processing machines, purpose-built for off-grid farming communities in developing countries. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support to customers, performing solar installations, and acting as a bridge between the field and the engineering team.
Responsibilities
Customer Technical Support
Serve as a technical contact person for B2C customers and respond to support phone calls.
Provide remote technical support, resolving common issues via phone.
Manage reverse logistics to Nairobi HQ for in-person diagnosis when matters cannot be resolved remotely.
Perform diagnosis on failed products, classify field tickets depending on warranty status, and document inspection findings.
Escalate field tickets to the field engineer or relevant specialists (mechanical, electrical, or operations) as needed.
Perform robust repairs and coordinate customer payment with Finance/Ops if necessary.
Quality control repaired machines by performing milling tests or equivalent before dispatch.
Document field tickets in the system, including status, symptoms, root cause, and repairs performed.
Participate in weekly field ticketing meetings to review progress and blockers.
Solar Installations
Collaborate with the sales team and customers to understand installation specifics (configuration, location, roof type, cabling).
Perform remote site surveys via video calls if needed.
Travel to rural locations throughout Kenya using appropriate transportation to perform installations to high quality standards.
Train customers, sign handover documentation, and receive sign-off from the line manager.
Maintain installation equipment and request replacements when necessary.
Assign EPRA T2 license to the company.
Internal Interface
Inform the engineering team of new technical issues and add them to the Bug tracker.
Support the sales process by answering potential customers' technical questions.
Support engagement with donors and partners during technical field visits and demonstrations.
Qualifications and Experience
A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
An EPRA T2 license (Mandatory).
At least 1 year of experience working with solar installations and/or agro-processing machinery.
A valid driver's license with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
Practical skills in multimeter use, basic PV diagnostics, wiring best practices, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
Extreme attention to detail and dedication to quality.
Ability to learn manuals in detail and perform instructions precisely.
Excellent spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
