The Field HSE Supervisor offers expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health, safety and Environment culture. This represents a key role in helping control occupational risk and environmental impact on the rig to achieving a 'Perfect HSE day' every day. The supervisor provides full oversight of safe operations on a drilling and completion work site, including rig operations, as well as a supporting maintenance yard.
Key Responsibilities
Provide full oversight of safe operations on drilling and completion work sites, including rig operations and supporting maintenance yards.
Apply HSE ‘Best Practice’ at all project sites, in line with Client, Baker Hughes (BH), and BH Integration & Solutions (I&S) Management Systems.
Ensure a coherent HSE approach by all contracted parties operating in the project and manage the application of the HSE interface.
Support contractor HSE representatives to ensure effectiveness and alignment with project objectives.
Liaise directly with field operational supervisors to ensure the safe operation of drilling and completion activities.
Manage, apply, and ensure adherence to Client and Baker Hughes HSE policies and procedures.
Promote a safety culture within the workplace in accordance with industry best practices.
Lead and participate in various site HSE meetings, present safety data, and communicate HSE alerts and lessons learned.
Perform and verify site inspections, generating Remedial Work Plans (RWP) or Action Trackers (AT) for non-compliance.
Monitor the work environment to protect workers from hazardous situations, particularly during Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.
Assist in coordinating rig moves, verify personnel competency, and equipment certificates.
Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately and lead the investigation and analysis process.
Verify that risk assessments are properly prepared, implemented, and updated.
Promote the Safety Observation System and analyze data to identify behavioral trends.
Verify PTW system implementation and conduct site HSE inductions for all crew and visitors.
Ensure site H2S and Fire contingency provisions are adequate and conduct emergency drills.
Ensure that all HSE-related documentation is completed and updated regularly.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited university or relevant industry experience.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years specifically in Environmental Health & Safety.
Ability to work on a rotational schedule and reside at the rig site.
Competence to plan, problem-solve, organize, direct, and control wellsite operations.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, influencing, and planning skills.
Strong English oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize meetings and distribute accurate minutes.
Skilled in the functional use of MS Office Suite; familiarity with MS Project is required.
Willing and able to travel frequently to remote field locations.
Ability to manage, develop, coach, and mentor high-level teams across organizational boundaries.
