Role Overview
The County Government of Kisumu is recruiting Family Medicine Specialists to join its health services team. This senior role is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care and clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services within the county. The specialist will manage diverse clinical cases, supervise medical personnel, and contribute to the improvement of health facility standards.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized medical care and diagnosis in family medicine.
Manage and coordinate clinical services within the department.
Supervise and mentor medical staff and other health officers.
Formulate and implement clinical policies and protocols.
Conduct medical assessments and perform specialized procedures as required.
Ensure adherence to medical ethics and quality standards.
Handle medical emergencies and patient referrals effectively.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Cumulative service period of at least six (6) years of relevant work experience.
At least three (3) years of experience at the grade of Principal Medical Officer or a comparable position.
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (BChB) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Master of Medicine and Surgery (MChB) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Postgraduate qualification in Family Medicine (M. Med Family Medicine) from a recognized institution.
Certificate in a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Registration Certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council (KMPDC).
Valid practicing license and retention in the KMPDC register.
Specialist recognition certificate from the KMPDC.
