As an Estimation Intern at Ramco Group, you will be responsible for assisting in the calculation of labor and material costs for various printing and publishing projects. This role involves analyzing job specifications to ensure cost-effective and competitive pricing for products such as books, pamphlets, periodicals, calendars, and promotional materials. You will collaborate with production personnel to confirm cost elements and ensure the accuracy of estimations.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation: Estimate labor and material costs of printing binding books, pamphlets, periodicals, calendars, promotional materials, notebooks, and diaries, based on specifications outlined on sales orders or submitted by prospective customers.
Specification Analysis: Examine specifications, sketches, and sample layouts to calculate unit and production costs. Use labor and material pricing schedules while considering factors like size and number of sheets or pages, paper stock requirements, binding operations, halftones, color units, and quality of the finished product.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Confer with department heads or production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various cost elements.
Specialized Estimates: Estimate the cost of mailing finished printed matter if specified on the order and estimate costs for specific phases of printing, such as plate making or binding.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Applied Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Secondary Education: Successful completion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Experience: On-the-job experience within the Printing, Publishing, or Packaging industries is considered an added advantage.
