We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to design systems, processes, and equipment to control and mitigate air, water, and soil pollution. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental laws, conducting impact assessments, and managing remediation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Pollution Control: Design systems, processes, and equipment to control and mitigate air, water, and soil pollution.
Compliance & Permitting: Obtain, update, and maintain environmental permits, and ensure facility compliance with local and federal environmental laws.
Impact Assessments: Carry out site assessments and technical audits to evaluate environmental impact, manage waste disposal, and identify contaminant sources.
Reporting & Data Analysis: Analyze environmental data, build computer models, and prepare technical reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Remediation: Develop and oversee plans to clean up contaminated sites or safely eliminate environmental hazards.
Quality Control: Conduct full-time QC surveillance and inspection during installation, including final inspection.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in environmental management and controls.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. Familiarity with EPA, ISO 14001, or local environmental regulations.
Key Skills: Proficiency in computer modeling, strong knowledge of biology/chemistry, and excellent technical report writing.
Job Terms and Offer
Assignment Duration: 12 months (Renewal subject to performance).
Working Schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day, 6 days a week).
Compensation: Base monthly salary of approximately $2,500 - $3,000 / KSh 300,000 - KSh 400,000. Overtime is paid at the base salary rate for hours worked beyond 8 hours/day or on rest days/holidays.
Benefits: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided.
Leave: Paid annual leave of up to 21 days at the end of each 12-month contract; accrued sick leave of 2.67 hours per full month of service.
Travel: Provided by the employer to the employee's home country.
