The Endoscopy Nurse provides essential nursing services within the CTC Endoscopy Unit to ensure patients receive high-quality care in line with hospital policies and regulations. The role involves assessing patient needs, coordinating treatments, and performing specialized clinical procedures in a mission-driven healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Assessment: Assess assigned patients' needs, monitor and accurately record vital signs, and document all assessments and interventions.
Clinical Treatments: Administer medications and fluids, monitor patient input and output, and provide enteral feeding (nasal gastric tubes).
Specialized Procedures: Perform wound care, IV access insertion, catheterization, and nebulization treatments as required.
Patient Hygiene: Perform bed baths and hygiene tasks for bedridden patients, including oral care and skin protection to prevent decubitus ulcers.
Operational Duties: Organize and coordinate nursing care and medical treatments, handle patient handovers during shift changes, and facilitate discharge processes.
Safety & Quality: Practice strict infection prevention techniques (handwashing, waste handling), maintain a clean and safe work environment, and ensure compliance with legal requirements for nursing practice.
Public Relations & Education: Provide health counseling and teaching to patients and families, and promote effective interpersonal relations within the community.
Research: Identify research topics, construct research plans, and carry out surveys at the operational level.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Nursing or a related field.
Specialization: Higher National Diploma in Gastroenterology or Endoscopy Nursing from a recognized institution.
Licensing: Valid registration and license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Experience: Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a similar hospital role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in endoscopy procedures and related patient care; good computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Personal Attributes: Exemplary integrity, honesty, strong work ethic, and a passion for God and the well-being of mankind.
