The Elevator Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of elevator systems at the assigned facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, and executing repairs in compliance with international safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe workplace and prioritize safety in all tasks.
Comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality Assurance (QA) goals, providing documentation for compliance.
Diagnose malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and signal/control systems using electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters and ammeters.
Disassemble defective units to repair or replace components including gears, cables, locks, and safety devices.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication of bearings and other components to minimize friction.
Install or repair electrical equipment such as transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, and conduit systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and layouts to locate and diagnose equipment issues.
Conduct equipment tests using ohmmeters, continuity testers, frequency counters, and feeler gauges.
Execute projects and additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An apprentice program with a Journeyman's Certificate is strongly preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, working sketches, and manufacturers’ operations/maintenance manuals.
Standards: Knowledge of applicable US and/or European Electrical Codes and standard trade practices.
Experience: Proficiency in performing annual maintenance on complex electrical and mechanical systems.
