Rosslyn Academy is an established and vibrant Christian international school that serves over 650 students from the missionary, diplomatic and business communities. The Elementary Shadow Assistant role is designed to assist teachers in facilitating positive growth in all students and ensuring the development of their God-given gifts for Christ-like service in the world community.

Student Support, Learning & Inclusion
Work closely under the direction of the classroom teacher to assist individual or small groups of students in their learning.
Provide one-on-one or small-group support, especially in foundational skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy.
Assist students in understanding instructions, completing tasks, and staying focused.
Carry out specific instructional and behavioral management responsibilities for students as outlined in IEPs or 504s.
Support the inclusion of students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reassurance.
Assist students with transitions between activities and routines.
Student Supervision, Care and Well-being
Monitor and promote student behavior through the classroom teacher’s management/discipline program.
Supervise students during class, break times, transitions, and school activities.
Be attentive to students’ emotional and social well-being, reporting concerns to the teacher.
Classroom and Instructional Support
Assist with maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, and textbooks.
Support classroom instruction through guided practice, reinforcement, and hands-on activities.
Maintain and care for classroom resources, including textbooks, materials, and supplies.
Perform school-related duties as assigned by your administrator or supervisor.
Assist in maintaining an organized, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate clearly, kindly, and respectfully with students at an age-appropriate level.
Maintain workable relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
Attend and participate in school meetings and maintain confidentiality regarding student information at all times.
Professional Development
Set and submit annual professional goals to the principal.
Participate in scheduled in-service, curriculum planning, and professional development activities.
Seek performance feedback from the supervisor as part of the self-evaluation procedure.
Requirements
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Exhibit a continuing sense of God’s calling to service at Rosslyn Academy.
Demonstrate respect for diversity of culture and the diversity of the body of Christ.
Have academic/professional qualifications in Education or a related field.
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrate the ability to use technology for word processing, data management, and electronic communications.
Agree and covenant to the Basic Tenets of Rosslyn Academy.
