Job Description
Terre des hommes (Tdh), the leading Swiss child relief agency, is seeking a Regional Strategic Advisor for the East and Central Africa region. This role is pivotal in providing high-level strategic guidance to ensure Tdh is well-positioned to protect and promote children's rights effectively across the region. The advisor will analyze humanitarian and development dynamics, map funding landscapes, and support regional delegations, specifically in Burundi and Kenya, with representation and strategic shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Analysis: Analyze and provide clear strategic insights into humanitarian, development, funding, and institutional dynamics in East and Central Africa, including key trends, risks, and opportunities affecting child rights programming.
Strategic Development: Identify and anticipate emerging challenges and required strategic shifts to sustain, adapt, and, where possible, expand Tdh’s presence and impact in the region.
Resource Mobilization: Map and assess key regional donors and funding opportunities for current and priority countries for potential future engagement.
Partnership and Positioning: Identify key regional institutional, governmental, and civil society stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and position Tdh as a credible and influential actor.
Roadmap Creation: Assess organizational, operational, and strategic support needs and propose a clear roadmap to reinforce Tdh’s regional presence.
Delegation Support: Provide on-demand support to Burundi and Kenya delegations regarding positioning, representation, and strategic thinking.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Master’s degree in Development, Humanitarian studies, or an equivalent field.
Qualifications: Diploma or advanced degree such as an MBA, MSc, or MA.
Core Competencies: Proficiency in strategic analysis, donor mapping, and high-level stakeholder management within the humanitarian sector.
