Role Overview
The Driver II position at the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is responsible for providing transport services in an effective and efficient manner. This role involves the safe operation of vehicles, maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure the organization's mobility needs are met professionally. There are currently four (4) vacancies available for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation: Driving the organization’s vehicles as authorized to transport personnel and equipment.
Routine Maintenance: Carrying out routine checks on the assigned vehicle and reporting any malfunction of vehicle systems and other occurrences.
Documentation: Maintaining the movement of work tickets for vehicle(s) assigned to track usage.
Safety and Security: Ensuring the security and safety of the vehicle both on and off the road.
Incident Management: Reporting all accidents and incidents promptly to the relevant IPOA offices.
Emergency Response: Administering first aid in the event of an accident.
Vehicle Upkeep: Maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications:
Education: KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification.
Experience: At least two (2) years’ proven driving experience.
Licensing: A valid driving license.
Certifications: Suitability Trade Test for Drivers and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
First Aid Training: First-Aid Course Certificate lasting not less than one (1) week from the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Computer Applications.
Practical Evaluation: Practical test for drivers conducted by the ministry responsible for transport or conducted by AA of Kenya.
