Job Description
The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) is a state agency established under the Legal Aid Act 2016 with the mandate to offer legal aid services to vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent persons in Kenya. NLAS is seeking to recruit qualified and competent individuals to fill the position of Driver I (4 Posts).
Duties and Responsibilities
Driving a motor vehicle as authorized.
Carrying out minor mechanical repairs.
Recognizing and reporting abnormal operation of the vehicle.
Ensuring the security of the vehicle on and off the road.
Ensuring the safety of passengers and/or goods therein.
Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicles.
Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, and tyre pressure, and detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems.
Carrying out minor repairs including oiling and greasing.
Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
At least three (3) years’ work experience at the grade of Driver II or in a comparable position in the Public or Private Sector.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade D plain or its equivalent.
Valid Class BCE driving license free from any endorsement.
Defensive Driving Certificate from a recognized institution.
Occupational Trade Test Grade II for drivers.
First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
Attended a refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Remuneration and Salary Scale
Salary Scale: Ksh. 32,932 - Ksh. 47,148 per month.
