Job Description
Gap Recruitment Services Limited is seeking an Assistant Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations, maintain accurate inventory records, and lead a team of warehouse assistants and loaders in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through cycle counts and periodic stock takes, and report stock variances, shortages, or overstock risks.
Team Supervision: Supervise the daily activities of warehouse assistants and loaders, allocating tasks and ensuring compliance with operational procedures and safety standards.
Receipt & Dispatch: Support the receipt and dispatch of goods by verifying quantities and documentation against delivery notes, invoices, and picking lists.
Equipment Operation: Operate a forklift for loading, offloading, and internal movement of goods while ensuring safe handling of fragile products.
Storage Optimization: Organize warehouse storage to maximize space utilization, facilitate efficient stock retrieval, and maintain clean, accessible work areas.
Safety & Housekeeping: Enforce housekeeping standards, safety procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
System Updates: Update the warehouse management system (SAP or equivalent) with stock movements and assist in preparing routine inventory and dispatch reports.
Quality Control: Inspect incoming and outgoing goods for damage or defects, document discrepancies, and escalate quality concerns.
Coordination: Coordinate with drivers, suppliers, and the sales team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.
Leadership Support: Deputize for the Warehouse Supervisor during periods of absence and support the smooth running of warehouse operations.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Education: Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy warehouse environment, preferably within the retail, FMCG, or building materials sectors.
Skills: Valid forklift operating experience and the ability to safely handle warehouse equipment; working knowledge of SAP or another warehouse management system; general computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Competencies: Strong planning, organizational, and inventory management skills; good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a warehouse team; high level of attention to detail and accuracy; safety-conscious, self-motivated, and physically fit.
