Job Description
The Director of Community Learning is a pivotal senior leadership role accountable for ensuring Blue Ventures’ global community training content is strategic, technically excellent and ready to scale—supporting partners and communities to deliver high-impact, rights-based marine conservation and small-scale fisheries outcomes.
Working closely with the Training and Learning team and collaborating across regional and country programmes, the Director provides technical leadership for Blue Ventures’ (BV) digital learning platform and broader training offer. The role leads the development and stewardship of technical frameworks, guidance, and curricula across BV’s programme pillars—Community-Based Fisheries Management, Secure Rights, Food Security, and Financial Inclusion—ensuring content is evidence-informed, grounded in lived community experience, and aligned with organisational standards (including safeguarding and DEI).
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership for BV’s digital learning platform and broader training offerings.
Framework Development: Lead the development and stewardship of technical frameworks, guidance, and curricula across the four core programme pillars: Community-Based Fisheries Management, Secure Rights, Food Security, and Financial Inclusion.
Quality Assurance: Drive quality assurance across all learning products to ensure they are coherent, engaging, and practically usable in real-world community delivery contexts.
Content Alignment: Ensure all training content is evidence-informed, grounded in community experience, and compliant with organisational standards, specifically safeguarding and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Team Management: Line-manage a multidisciplinary team of subject-matter experts.
Strategic Scaling: Ensure global community training content is strategic, technically excellent, and ready to scale for partners and communities.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Conservation, Social Sciences, or International Development).
Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within a similar organization or sector.
Proven expertise in technical leadership for digital learning or large-scale community training programs.
Demonstrated experience in developing technical frameworks and curricula from scratch.
Strong background in people management, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary and remote teams.
Deep commitment to and knowledge of safeguarding and DEI standards.
Familiarity with marine conservation or small-scale fisheries sectors is highly desirable.
