Job Description
The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit Cadet Officers to serve as Architects. This is a unique role that combines professional architectural expertise with paramilitary service. Successful candidates will be responsible for providing architectural design, planning, and supervision for various NYS infrastructure projects across the country. The position offers permanent and pensionable terms of service, including medical cover under the SHA Scheme for Civil Servants. All successful candidates MUST undergo a nine (9) month NYS Paramilitary training program at the NYS Training College.
Responsibilities
Provide professional architectural designs and planning for NYS construction and development projects.
Supervise construction works to ensure they adhere to architectural specifications and quality standards.
Collaborate with other engineering professionals (Structural, Civil, Electrical) on technical project designs.
Prepare and manage project documentation and architectural drawings for approval.
Ensure all service projects meet the required safety, environmental, and legal building codes.
Fulfill paramilitary leadership duties and participate in NYS operations as a commissioned officer.
General Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be between 18 and 28 years of age.
Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Have no criminal record.
Must be medically fit.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Possess a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Willingness to undergo nine (9) months of paramilitary training.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
Must have a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Must be registered by the relevant professional board (Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as per the listing) as a Graduate professional.
