Information about the Role\n\nThe Deputy Manager, Operational Risk, supports the Senior Manager Operational Risk in the implementation of Risk, Compliance, and Business Continuity Programs in the Banking and Payment Services (BPS) Department in accordance with the Department’s mandate, policies, guidelines, and processes.\n\n### Responsibilities and Duties\n\n#### Technical and Operational Responsibilities\n- Document risk registers for all divisions and sections, ensuring they are updated regularly and submitted in a timely manner.\n- Support the Department in performing risk control assessments and outcomes, including business continuity activities such as the development of business impact analysis and testing.\n- Perform targeted independent assurance checks on high and medium risks and controls.\n- Ensure daily reporting of incidents and work with respective divisions on closure, learnings, and linkage to the Risk Register.\n- Ensure implementation of audit recommendations and findings for BPS, informing on mitigations and timely closure including linkage to the Risk Register.\n- Develop insightful risk reports and dashboards for multiple audiences, including BPS leadership, the Bank Risk Management Committee, Management, and the Board.\n- Identify risk knowledge gaps and provide input for staff training that builds risk awareness.\n- Support initiatives to build a culture of risk awareness for BPS.\n- Work collaboratively and effectively with the Risk and Compliance Division to deliver on Key Result Areas and ensure no operational silos.\n- Ensure compliance with Bank policies, procedures, guidelines, and internal controls.\n- Regularly review and update the Department’s operations manuals and procedures.\n\n#### Other Responsibilities\n- Escalate issues, queries, and complaints that may need further consultation to the Senior Manager, Operational Risk Division.\n- Develop and maintain working relationships with Divisional and Section Heads.\n- Perform any other tasks as assigned.\n\n### Qualifications and Skills\n- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Business Management from a reputable University.\n- Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in Risk Management within Banking and Payments in the Financial Services Industry or similar operations.\n- Professional certification in Risk Management, Financial Risk Management (FRM), Business Continuity Management, or Governance Risk and Compliance Management (GRCM) is a distinct advantage.\n- Mandatory membership in a relevant professional institute in good standing.\n\n### How to Apply\n\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Central Bank of Kenya careers portal at .
