Deputy Director - Research, Innovation and Consultancy

The Deputy Director for Research, Innovation, and Consultancy reports to the Director of Research and Business Development. This strategic role is responsible for leading research initiatives that inform policy and legislative processes at KASNEB. The job holder facilitates the identification of research areas, manages knowledge management principles, and oversees the dissemination of research findings to enhance the organization's impact both regionally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate research on specific topics relevant to KASNEB to influence policy and legislative processes.
• Leverage research and literature to develop well-informed institutional positions.
• Oversee internal and external awareness of research and knowledge management principles.
• Identify research areas, develop proposals, and execute research studies.
• Design data collection methodologies and research-related interventions for priority programme areas.
• Coordinate research surveys in collaboration with various functional departments.
• Analyze policy statements regarding KASNEB from regional and international perspectives.
• Coordinate the dissemination of research papers and policy briefs.

Person Specifications

• A cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in the grade of Assistant Director Planning or a comparable position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Public Policy, Statistics, Mathematics, Strategic Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Education, Project Planning and Management, Risk Management, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Statistics, Mathematics, Strategic Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Education, Project Planning and Management, Risk Management, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing where applicable.
• Leadership course certificate (minimum 4 weeks) from a recognized institution.
• A valid practicing certificate/license where applicable.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.

Terms of Service

• Status: Permanent and Pensionable.
• Basic Salary Range: KSh. 140,600 - 259,000 per month.
