Job Description
The Deputy Director of the Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre is a senior management role responsible for the overall oversight, administration, and performance of the institution. The successful candidate will ensure that the centre's daily operations align with institutional objectives, focusing on agricultural training, extension services, and efficient resource management.
Managerial and Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise administrators, Training officers, farm Managers, and other senior staff.
Oversee daily operations and ensure alignment with institutional objectives.
Coordinate preparations and executions of strategic plan, annual work plan, and performance management.
Mentor, appraise, and build capacity of staff across departments.
Represent the Director in Meetings, Boards, and stakeholder engagements when delegated.
Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
Coordinate Curriculum implementation, training, and extension activities.
Monitor financial, administrative, and farm operations for efficiency and compliance.
Ensure quality assurance and adherence to TVET and Public Service Commission (PSC) guidelines.
Support resource mobilization, project management, and partnerships.
Prepare performance and progress reports for submissions to the Director.
Handle disciplinary, staff welfare, and grievance management issues.
Perform any other duty as delegated by the Director.
Financial Responsibility
Oversee utilization of budgets in administration, training, and farm operations.
Ensure compliance with Public Finance Management Act and County Treasury guidelines.
Responsibility for Physical Assets
Custody and oversight of institutional assets (Land, buildings, equipment, vehicles, livestock, and training facilities).
Makes managerial and operational decisions within delegated authority.
Advisory role to the Director on policy, planning, and resource allocation.
Working Conditions
The role involves working in office, classroom, and farm environments.
Requires frequent interaction with staff, students, stakeholders, and external partners.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
A Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Education, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field is an added advantage.
Proven experience of not less than eight (8) years in administration or management either in the public or private sector, three (3) of which must be at a senior management level.
