Debt Recovery Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Delinquency Management: Reduce delinquency for assigned accounts and monitor allocated accounts daily to keep the collection portfolio within acceptable limits.
• Customer Relations: Investigate and resolve customer queries and complaints through verbal or written correspondence.
• Field Operations: Issue demand letters at the field level and contact defaulting customers via calls or visits to negotiate settlements.
• Recovery & Repossession: Record Promises to Pay (PTPs), initiate repossession of SunCulture assets where necessary, and plan field collection drives across regions.
• Reporting & Escalation: Achieve monthly collection targets, identify and escalate deceased or disabled customers to the Head of Credit, and conduct monthly performance reporting.
• Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with local authorities and Security Officers to facilitate recovery efforts.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or degree in Debt Collection and Management, Business Information Science, Finance, or Accounting.
• Experience: 3-6 years of experience in debt collection within microfinance, the solar industry, or a related financial institution.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in GSuite and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Certifications: Must possess a valid driving license.
• Soft Skills: Strong negotiation skills, organizational ability, integrity, and sound judgment.
• Knowledge: Understanding of legal requirements and processes in microfinance and credit collection environments.
