Role Overview
The Data System and Analysis Consultant will strengthen UNICEF’s data systems and analytical capacity. This role focuses on supporting engagement with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) during ongoing survey analysis and reporting, consolidating child-related indicators into a centralized repository, and developing automated, user-friendly dashboards to improve data access for all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strengthen UNICEF’s data systems and analytical capacity.
Support engagement with and provide assistance to KNBS during ongoing survey analysis and reporting.
Consolidate child-related indicators into a centralized and well-structured repository.
Develop automated, user-friendly dashboards using Power BI or Tableau, including data modeling and automation workflows.
Consolidate key situation analysis for children to improve access to data and evidence.
Review and improve analytical tables, draft narrative sections, and contribute to evidence products such as the Situation Analysis (SitAn).
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Social Sciences, Computer Science, or other relevant fields.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in data management and analytics, including digital data systems development.
Proven experience in designing and implementing data repositories (e.g., SharePoint lists, Microsoft Dataverse).
Experience supporting national statistical offices (e.g., KNBS) in data analysis, report writing, or large-scale household survey processes (e.g., DHS, Household Budget Surveys).
Experience in evidence synthesis and analytical writing.
Experience working with child-related indicators, multidimensional poverty, or social statistics is an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Power BI/Tableau dashboard development.
Strong understanding of data governance, quality assurance, and metadata standards.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS) is highly desirable.
Language: Fluency in English is required.
