Data Science Officer

The Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) is a state corporation established under the Micro and Small Enterprise Act No. 55 of 2012. The Data Science Officer will leverage data science, analytics, and automation tools to improve transparency, service delivery, and policy decision-making within the Authority and partner agencies.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end data lifecycle, from collection and cleaning to advanced predictive modeling and visualization, ensuring that data-driven insights are accessible and actionable for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources.
• Building and maintaining data pipelines and databases.
• Analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Developing predictive and statistical models to support decision-making.
• Visualizing data using dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, Python, etc.).
• Communicating findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Researching and testing new data science tools and methods.
• Collaborating with ICT, M&E, and program teams on data-driven initiatives.
• Ensuring compliance with data protection and governance policies.
• Producing regular analytical and performance reports.
• Supporting training and building data literacy within teams.
• Monitoring KPIs and providing insights for planning and evaluation.
• Performing any other duty as may be assigned.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a computing-related field.
• Five (5) years’ experience, three (3) of which must be in Data Management.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
