The Data Privacy Manager at Standard Bank Group (Stanbic Bank Kenya) is responsible for leading the implementation of the bank's Information Risk policy through a holistic approach to Information Risk Management. The role ensures compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards, providing critical oversight of the Data Privacy Compliance Framework across all business units.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Leadership: Lead the implementation of the Stanbic Bank Kenya Information Risk policy as it relates to Information Risk Management.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure country compliance with applicable Privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., Kenya Data Protection Act, GDPR).
Framework Management: Provide oversight of the implementation of the Data Privacy Compliance Framework across all bank business units.
Risk & Audit Mitigation: Apply audit knowledge to drive continuous improvement in data privacy, provide oversight during assessments, and mitigate audit findings regarding gaps or legislative shortcomings.
Regulatory Oversight: Take ownership of legal and IT oversight regarding regulatory jurisdiction and cross-border data transfer aspects.
System Optimization: Drive automation and continuous improvements of banking systems and platforms to enhance privacy safeguards.
Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships and engage with stakeholders to uphold data privacy standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: A first degree in Information Technology, Law, or a related field.
Audit Experience: 3-4 years of experience applying audit knowledge to drive continuous improvement in data privacy and performing oversight during assessments.
Professional Experience: 5-7 years of extensive and expert knowledge in Data Privacy management, preferably within financial institutions.
Regulatory Expertise: Core mastery of data protection laws, specifically the Kenya Data Protection Act and GDPR.
Skills and Competencies
Technical: Information Security Management, Risk Identification & Management, Information Management, and Strategic Alignment & Execution.
Behavioral: Analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail, challenging ideas, stakeholder management, and upholding high professional standards.
