Job Description
Reporting to the Regional RM Business, the Relationship Manager (Biashara Banking) is responsible for coordinating business at the regional level to ensure bank strategies, goals, and objectives are achieved. The regional manager will support the business in achieving objectives related to Customer Recruitment, Deposit mobilization, Asset growth, and identifying Investment & Insurance opportunities. The role also involves quality management, staff productivity, training, and implementation of the segment strategy at the regional level. This position is at the Assistant Manager level.
Key Accountabilities
Monitoring and Surveillance/Quality Management
Track loans originated at the branch level on a daily basis to prevent malpractices.
Sample loans disbursed at the branch daily and review decisions made.
Engage with staff daily regarding arrears management.
Query daily arrears reports with officers and branches.
Manage relationships with borrowers within the region.
Ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures.
Training, Mentorship, and Coaching
Conduct refresher training for branch staff members.
Train the Branch Credit Committee to ensure the quality of originated loans aligns with policies.
Enhance organizational culture and core values among Sector Team members.
Provide handholding, mentoring, and coaching to regional staff on bank lending processes.
Growth of Business
Participate in the development and review of Sector Products based on market needs.
Seek and manage partnerships aligned with sector objectives.
Manage business aggregators in the region in conjunction with bank partnerships.
Enforce service delivery within stipulated Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Organize and conduct marketing storms for branches and follow up on business leads.
Participate in the formulation and full implementation of the Sector strategy.
Staff Productivity
Hold weekly performance review discussions with Biashara banking officers in the region.
Oversee regional staff growth, development, and talent identification.
Identify staff gaps and advise the Regional RM Business on staff deployment.
Customer Service
Serve as a brand ambassador for Equity Bank in the market.
Engage in partnerships and manage regional micro-aggregators.
Support branches in onboarding and owning various ecosystems end-to-end.
Other Roles
Liaise with internal and external sector stakeholders in the region.
Advise the Segment Head - Biashara Banking on regional business progress.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
A university degree in a business-related field.
At least 6 years of experience as a Relationship Supervisor in Biashara Banking.
