The Luke Hotel is a luxury hotel in Nairobi and the gracious host to prominent world leaders, renowned authors, and international celebrities. We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Officer to join our financial team. This role is central to maintaining the hotel's financial health by managing credit risk, evaluating lending opportunities, and overseeing debt recovery processes. The successful candidate will ensure that all credit activities align with statutory regulations and internal standards while providing excellent service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Credit Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of financial data to evaluate creditworthiness and make sound lending decisions.
Risk Management: Apply knowledge of credit risk management and KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures to safeguard the hotel's financial interests.
Debt Recovery: Manage delinquent accounts and lead negotiation efforts for loan restructuring when necessary.
Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to statutory regulations and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) guidelines.
Documentation: Oversee comprehensive loan documentation processes to ensure accuracy and legal compliance.
Reporting: Prepare diverse and detailed reports for management, providing insights into credit performance and outstanding debts.
Academic Qualifications & Experience
Academic Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
Professional Certification: CPA (Intermediate and above), ACCA, or CFA. Credit management certification is an added advantage.
Experience: At least 3 years in a busy financial environment, specifically in credit analysis, lending or debt recovery.
Regulations Knowledge: In-depth and sound knowledge of statutory regulations or CBK guidelines.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of credit risk management, loan documentation and KYC procedures.
Key Skills and Attributes
Analytical skills: Ability to analyze financial data and make sound decisions.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for communication with clients.
Report Writing: Good acumen for producing diverse reports.
Negotiation: Ability to manage delinquent accounts and handle loan restructuring.
Software proficiency: Experience with banking systems and MOS (Microsoft Office Suite).
Integrity: High level of ethical behavior.
