BANK OF AFRICA - KENYA LIMITED (BOA-KENYA) is seeking a Credit Analyst to evaluate the creditworthiness of borrowers. This role ensures that proposed credit risk is beneficial to the client while remaining profitable for the bank. The analyst identifies and mitigates risks within relevant policies and regulations, adding value by providing advice and techniques for credits considered bankable.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Appraisal of Credit Files
Review proposals in the dedicated workflow for correctness and completeness of data capture.
Confirm borrower creditworthiness by reviewing past credit history.
Confirm capacity using scoring models to determine the Debt Service Ratio.
Confirm suitability of collateral offered.
Review borrower contribution to assess commitment to proposed facilities.
Identify credit risks and propose mitigation measures.
Validate credit scoring models and ensure facility pricing aligns with these models.
Progress files with recommended decisions or return to relationship managers for missing information.
Review Temporary Accommodations
Confirm excess templates and supporting documents are attached to requests.
Verify that requests are justified and properly priced through fees/commissions.
Certify that proposals have verifiable sources of repayment.
Processing Variations for Approved Loans
Ensure documents and information required to justify variations are available.
Review proposed variations to ensure they are justified and do not materially alter approved proposals.
Credit Approval Committee (CAC) Management
Organize CAC meetings and invite all stakeholders.
Present previous minutes and summaries of unit decisions.
Take minutes and follow up on action points from meetings.
Senior Credit Committee Coordination
Follow up on credit files pending approval at the Head Office.
Coordinate responses to queries raised by Senior Credit Approval Committee analysts.
Justify and defend local credit committee decisions.
Documentation and Compliance
Review draft letters of offer for sanctioned facilities.
Review valuation reports to confirm collateral suitability and sufficiency.
Conduct customer call visits with the business team to independently assess capacity and financing needs.
Review compliance regarding Environment & Social Risks.
Minimum Requirements
University Degree preferably in a Business-related field (Economics, Finance, or Accounting) from a recognized institution.
Banking professional qualification, Accounting Qualification, or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years’ banking experience, with at least 2 years’ in a Credit Analysis role.
Good understanding of financial policies, procedures, and external regulations.
Demonstrated expertise and in-depth knowledge of credit processes and products.
Understanding of the current banking environment, trends, regulatory guidelines, and applicable laws.
