The County Chief Officer is the authorized and accounting officer for the Department of Trade and Industry in Trans Nzoia County. Reporting directly to the County Executive Committee Member, the role involves overseeing the administration of the department, implementing strategic plans in alignment with Vision 2030, and ensuring the delivery of effective public services.
Responsibilities
Administrative Leadership: Lead the administration of the county department and act as the primary accounting officer.
Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement programs, strategic plans, and sector development plans to meet local and national goals (Vision 2030).
Policy Implementation: Execute departmental policies and regulations while providing strategic direction for service delivery.
Governance and Ethics: Ensure full compliance with the National Values and Principles of Good Governance and Public Service as outlined in the Constitution of Kenya.
Operational Oversight: Perform departmental duties as assigned to ensure high-quality output and adherence to timelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Nationality: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Kenya is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the relevant field, with at least 5 years at a senior/managerial level in a large organization.
Registration: Membership or registration with a relevant professional body where applicable.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability as a results-oriented strategic thinker with a deep understanding of county development objectives.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Technical Skills: Must be computer literate.
Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.
