Nakuru County Government is seeking to recruit a Counsellor I. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional psychological support to clients through intake, individual, and group counselling sessions. This role requires a dedicated professional with a background in counselling psychology and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and delivering high-quality mental health services.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Client Intake: Conducting initial assessments and intake procedures for clients seeking counselling services.
Therapeutic Intervention: Facilitating both individual and group counselling sessions to address various psychological and emotional needs.
Record Management: Keeping and maintaining appropriate and confidential records of all counselling sessions and client progress.
Administrative Support: Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor to support the department's objectives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must have served in the Grade of Counselor II for a period of at least three (3) years, OR possess a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology from a recognized institution.
Completion of a Psychological Debriefing Course lasting not less than one (1) week.
Mandatory registration with the Kenya Counselling Association (KCA).
Possession of a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
