Job Description
The Corporate Communications Officer at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a vital role responsible for managing and enhancing the organization's public image and internal communication channels. This role involves a mix of traditional public relations, digital content creation, and extensive video production. The successful candidate will ensure a consistent brand voice across all platforms, from written reports and press releases to high-quality video campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Write and edit diverse content including press releases, newsletters, website copy, speeches, and reports.
Social Media Management: Develop and manage social media content, including posts, captions, and dedicated campaigns.
Brand Oversight: Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging is maintained across all institutional platforms.
Video Production: Plan, script, and storyboard video projects. This includes shooting high-quality footage for events, interviews, and promotional content.
Technical Operation: Independently manage and operate cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and other related gear for professional shoots.
Post-Production: Edit video content using professional software, incorporating graphics, subtitles, music, and visual effects to meet communication goals.
Platform Optimization: Tailor video content for specific use on social media, websites, YouTube, and television.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Film Production, or a related equivalent qualification from a recognized institution (Mandatory).
Professional Membership: Must be a member of a professional body such as the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), Media Council of Kenya (MCK), Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ), or Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) (Mandatory).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications (Mandatory).
Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, team building, negotiation, and interpersonal skills (Mandatory).
