Role Overview
World Vision is an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation working in almost 100 countries world-wide to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
The Community Mobilizer will coordinate and support field-level project planning, community mobilization, capacity building, and monitoring of Livelihood & Resilience (L&R) and Local Value Chain Development (LVCD) interventions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
Coordinate effective and timely implementation of all interventions outlined under 4 Rs (Risk reduction, Risk transfer, Risk retention, Risk diversification) and any other related and cross cutting project activities.
Participate in the preparation of overall work plan and budget as well as develop activity plans and budgets for technical support of local value chain development interventions.
Support in the mobilization and registration of Households.
Participate in developing progress reports (weekly updates, situational reports, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports).
Support Project Quality Assurance (PQA) through organizing and supporting monitoring visits on 4 Rs interventions.
Collaborate with relevant ministries and partners at County and community levels to ensure integration and high-level implementation of planned project activities.
Work with staff to ensure key trainings meet required standards to facilitate knowledge and reinforcement of L&R behaviors and practices.
Ensure business processes, standards, and guidelines related to Livelihood & Resilience initiatives are effectively applied.
Provide technical input into operational research, baseline/endline evaluations, and post-distribution monitoring.
Conduct continuous activity and budget analysis to ensure adherence to approved plans.
Technical Support
Support training of households on the 4 Rs.
Support training of financial inclusion groups on digitization.
Provide continuous coaching, mentoring, and reporting for financial inclusion groups and link them to support services.
Work with communities and stakeholders to identify key on-farm and off-farm value chains and support market research.
Mobilize target communities to participate in Local Value Chain Interventions and form Project Implementation Units/producer groups.
Support produce aggregation and marketing activities.
Identify community champions/resource persons for the 4 Rs.
Facilitate capacity building of partners and farmer groups on LVCD activities (Climate Smart Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Post-harvest management, value addition, transformational leadership).
Ensure adult and child safeguarding during project implementation.
Ensure community champions have necessary monitoring tools and training.
Develop project monitoring and reporting schedules in collaboration with stakeholders.
Clean and collate project performance data and key it into the Monitoring Information System (MIS) monthly.
Prepare progress reports and document key lessons learnt and success stories.
Support farmer records digitization process and performance tracking.
Conduct reflection and learning events with farmers and partners.
Strategic Engagement, Partnership & Networking
Represent World Vision in key L&R stakeholder forums/meetings at Ward, Sub-County, and County levels.
Facilitate linkages of financial inclusion and farmer groups to micro-finance and skills development institutions.
Strengthen partnerships with county government and other partners for sustainability.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma certificate in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension and Education, Nutrition, or Developmental Studies with experience in livelihood projects.
Minimum of 2 years' experience working with communities in relief or Livelihood and Resilience/Food security projects.
Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written) with understanding of the local dialect and context.
Strong computer skills including MS Office.
Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.
Cross-cultural sensitivity and commitment to gender integration.
