About the Role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the world's environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the environment.
The Communications Intern will support the team in the furtherance of its communication and outreach work. Under the supervision of substantive experts, the intern will participate in campaigns, coverage of meetings, and logistical support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the development of in-house meeting coverage of the Secretariat's annual meetings.
Support the development of global communication campaigns to mark World Ozone Day and the 10th anniversary of the Kigali Amendment.
Support meetings taking place during the internship period by providing communications, branding, and logistical assistance, specifically the Meeting of the Parties in November.
Qualifications and Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in environmental sciences, communications studies, or a related field.
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme in environmental sciences, communications studies, or a related field (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
Be a student in the final year of a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. programme, or have completed one of these programmes.
Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
No professional work experience is required, but a field of study closely related to the internship is mandatory.
