Job Description
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is looking for a Communication Intern to support its operational arm in implementing projects for the UN System, international financial institutions, and governments. The intern will support the communication department in various content development, digital media, and internal communication tasks, ensuring alignment with UNOPS mandates and strategies with an emphasis on sustainability and inclusivity.
Responsibilities
Content Development and Research
Draft, edit, and format communication materials such as briefs, fact sheets, biannual reports, press releases, stories, talking points, and short articles.
Support documentation of project milestones through written summaries, photo captions, and human-interest stories.
Maintain organized records of content and communication assets in Google Drive.
Digital Communications and Media Support
Manage updates and postings on the intranet and social media platforms according to guidance.
Support creation and scheduling of digital content, including posts, visuals, and multimedia materials.
Ensure shared digital platforms are up to date.
Internal Communications
Support internal information sharing by drafting updates, announcements, and summaries for staff and partners.
Assist with online participation for regional meetings, including basic technical support.
Prepare concise meeting notes or summaries for internal alignment.
Event Planning and Logistic Support
Support planning and logistical coordination of virtual and in-person meetings, workshops, and events.
Assist with event documentation, including agendas, participant lists, photos, and post-event summaries.
Liaise with vendors and service providers.
Requirements
Education: Completion of a Minimum First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), or enrollment in a postgraduate program, or graduation from such studies within three (3) years prior to the start date of the internship. Area of study preferably related to communications, journalism, public relations, or similar.
Competencies: High standards of trustworthiness, respect for diversity, ability to work in a team, partner-focused approach, and initiative-taking.
Skills: Proficiency in content development, digital media, editing, and event management.
