The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is seeking to recruit a Commissioner General who will serve as the Chief Executive Officer to lead the institution through its transformative journey. The Commissioner General is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Authority, managing its funds and property, and providing leadership to staff. The successful candidate will ensure the Authority operates in alignment with its vision of being 'An agile tax and customs revenue agency facilitating voluntary compliance for all.' The Commissioner General also serves as the Accounting Officer and is a member of the KRA Board.
Responsibilities
Ensure efficient and prudent management of the Authority's funds and property.
Provide leadership in identifying Key Result Areas and rallying staff towards delivery of goals.
Promote revenue collection activities in line with Government of Kenya targets.
Foster a conducive environment that encourages compliance with Tax and Customs legislation.
Promote tax administration practices that facilitate trade and business growth.
Build and sustain sound working relationships with Government agencies, taxpayers, and other stakeholders.
Act as the Chief spokesperson for the Authority and promote a positive corporate image.
Serve as the Authority's ambassador on Tax and Customs matters at regional and international levels.
Ensure effective communication between management, the board, and staff.
Maintain a conducive work environment to attract, retain, and motivate employees while fostering a culture of ethics.
Facilitate the preparation of budgets, operational proposals, annual plans, and corporate policies.
Consistently strive to achieve financial, revenue targets, and other operating goals.
Spearhead the Authority’s digital transformation agenda.
Perform other functions as assigned by the board.
Qualifications and Experience
Be a Kenyan Citizen.
Possess a First Degree from a reputable accredited University.
Hold a Masters’ Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a relevant field.
At least fifteen (15) years of working experience, of which ten (10) must be at a senior leadership level in large public or private entities.
Demonstrate compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and the Leadership and Integrity Act.
Knowledge of Fiscal and Tax Policy and Administration will be an added advantage.
