Cold Chain Driver (Refrigerated Trucks)

Key Responsibilities

• Temperature Management: Monitor and adjust temperature settings on refrigeration units to maintain compliance with temperature guidelines.
• Cargo Transport: Safely transport temperature-sensitive goods, ensuring cargo remains within the specified temperature range during transit.
• Delivery Excellence: Ensure all deliveries are made on time, in full, and meet quality standards (quantity, packaging, etc.).
• Route Planning: Effectively plan routes and manage time to ensure punctuality.
• Vehicle Maintenance & Hygiene: Maintain a clean and sanitized truck, both inside and out. Regularly inspect and clean the vehicle for transport readiness.
• Compliance: Ensure all necessary licenses and certifications are up to date, including Speed Governor, NTSA Motor vehicle inspection, branding license, county distribution licenses, driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
• Fuel Management: Follow company guidelines for efficient fuel usage through timely refueling and fuel-efficient driving practices.
• Safety Protocols: Adhere to all health and safety protocols and safe driving practices. Report accidents, damages, or safety hazards immediately.
• Environmental Responsibility: Minimize emissions and operate the vehicle in an environmentally friendly manner, avoiding environmental hazards when parking.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, fuel consumption, and other required documentation.
• Communication: Coordinate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure smooth deliveries.
• Additional Duties: Assist with loading and unloading of goods and perform other driving-related duties as required.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial driver’s license - Class BCE.
• Secondary level certification (KCSE).
• Mandatory Defensive driver training.
• Proven experience in Cold Chain or temperature-sensitive logistics is preferred.
• Familiarity with Cold Chain Logistics systems.
• Understanding of local traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and hygiene standards.
• Strong time management and route planning skills.
• Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
• Ability to operate refrigerated vehicles and understand refrigeration unit operations.
• Knowledge of the Kenya Highway code and Kenya geographical regions.
• Ability to work independently, manage documentation, and work well with others.
