Job Description
Durham International Schools provides a first-class all-around educational experience for pupils from age 3 through to 18. We are looking for a skilled and passionate Coffee Barista to join our team and provide a high-quality beverage experience within our educational community.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving specialty coffee, maintaining high hygiene standards, and ensuring excellent customer service for students, staff, and visitors. You will use your technical expertise in brewing and latte art to deliver a premium coffee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso and specialty beverages.
Execute latte art and maintain high standards of beverage presentation.
Maintain cleanliness of the coffee station and equipment in accordance with hygiene regulations.
Manage inventory and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for transactions.
Stay updated on international coffee trends and sustainability practices.
Provide friendly and efficient service, working effectively under pressure.
Requirements
Minimum of a Diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Service, or related field.
Certification in Barista Training or Coffee Skills (e.g., Specialty Coffee Association).
At least 4 years of experience as a barista or in a hospitality/food service environment.
Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods, latte art, and specialty beverage preparation.
A current Food Handling Medical Certificate is mandatory.
ICT literacy for point of sale systems and inventory management.
Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).
Experience in bakery or pastry service is considered an added advantage.
Reliability, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for customer service.
