The Clinical Practice Educator for the Medical Ward at Aga Khan University Hospital is responsible for leading the nursing team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of unit-based clinical policies and procedures. This role involves guiding nurses in patient care assessment, identifying learning needs, and ensuring high standards of clinical documentation and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
Lead the team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of unit-based clinical policies and procedures.
Guide nurses in the assessment of patient care needs and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
Identify learning needs of the nurses and assume responsibility for the development and implementation of unit-based in-service programs for all nursing staff.
Make daily rounds of all patients in the unit while reviewing patient allocation to determine correct patient assignment to the nurses.
Ensure that all documentation related to patient care is completed and that staff are familiar with the documentation policy.
Participate in the Nursing Division Nursing Quality Assurance audit program.
Guide nursing staff in the initiation of and participation in hospital-wide as well as unit-based nursing research projects.
Submit monthly reports of learning activities and spot checks to the relevant entities on time.
Take the lead in unit-based continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.
Requirements
Registered nurse (KRN/M; KRCHN) with a BSc-Nursing degree.
Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office packages.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care teaching hospital.
Must possess teaching abilities, leadership qualities, professional judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrate evidence-based knowledge of current practices in medical nursing.
