Aga Khan University Hospital is looking for a Clinical Nurse to join their Outreach Clinic in Kitengela. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, performing comprehensive patient assessments, and executing nursing interventions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a safe, ethical, and patient-centered approach to care, advocacy for patients, and active participation in quality improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Complete head-to-toe assessment and re-assessment of patients to identify care needs.
Systematically collect data related to patient health status and develop care plans in collaboration with the team.
Execute nursing interventions incorporating standards of care, practice, and patient outcomes.
Provide safe, ethical, and culturally congruent patient- and family-centered care.
Evaluate patient responses to care plans and adjust as needed.
Document assessments and interventions accurately and timely.
Identify learning needs of patients and families and educate them using the teach-back method.
Act as patient advocates, ensuring privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Monitor and document near-misses.
Perform hemodynamic monitoring including vital signs, neurological status, and fluid status.
Administer medication safely and report adverse reactions promptly.
Dispose of clinical waste according to hospital guidelines.
Assist physicians with procedures and perform EST and spirometry.
Maintain airway management including oxygen therapy and suctioning.
Identify and implement patient and family education needs.
Ensure safe environment through infection control and medical equipment safety checks.
Ensure accurate billing of clinic stock drugs and consumables.
Participate in nursing education, quality improvement (QI) projects, audits, and skill checks.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered Nurse from a recognized school of nursing or University.
Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Minimum of 3 years of continuous clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices in an outpatient setting.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
