Kirinyaga University (KyU) is seeking to recruit three (3) Clinical Instructors in the field of Nursing. The role involves bridging the gap between clinical theory and practice by providing instructional support, supervising student practicals, and ensuring quality standards in clinical training workshops. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing workshop practicals, guiding students through experiments, and maintaining clinical training equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching Support: Provide support in teaching by preparing workshop practicals in coordination with Lecturers.
Manual Development: Participate in the development and review of workshop practical manuals.
Student Supervision: Guide and supervise students during experiments and clinical practicals.
Safety Management: Develop, implement, enforce, and review hospital safety measures and guidelines.
Mentorship: Provide mentoring and coaching to students during and outside formal evaluation settings.
Quality Control: Implement workshop Quality Management Systems (QMS) and handle ISO-related matters.
Equipment Maintenance: Develop and implement equipment maintenance and calibration schedules to ensure workshop equipment and manikins are in optimal condition.
Community Outreach: Participate in community outreach programs as required.
Attachment Supervision: Coordinate student rotations or site visits and help students understand their duties in different attachment settings.
Student Evaluation: Conduct formal student performance evaluations and provide informal feedback.
Administrative Support: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chairman of the Department (C.o.D) or the Dean.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must have at least three (3) years of relevant work experience.
Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized Institution.
Must possess a Diploma in Nursing.
Must have a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Proficiency in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
