Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect floors, walls, doors, windows, ceilings, and other surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect patient rooms and public areas.
• Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal according to hospital infection control guidelines.
• Collect, sort, and safely dispose of medical and non-medical waste.
• Handle sharps and infectious waste carefully in line with safety procedures.
• Ensure waste bins are clean and emptied regularly.
• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and bathrooms.
• Report any plumbing or maintenance issues promptly.
• Follow hospital infection prevention and control protocols strictly.
• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces to minimize the risk of infection.
• Collect, sort, and transport soiled linen to the laundry area.
• Assist in arranging furniture and equipment in patient care areas.
• Replenish cleaning materials and report shortages.
• Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies such as spills or contamination.

Requirements for Appointment

• Be a Citizen of Kenya.
• Minimum of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) or its equivalent.
• Secondary education (KCSE) is an added advantage.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in cleaning, preferably in a health facility or similar environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision.
• Good personal hygiene and neat appearance.
• Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Punctuality, honesty, and reliability.
