Job Description
The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, operated by Aga Khan Education Service Kenya (AKESK), is seeking a qualified Class Teacher for Grade 1 to serve as a Maternity Reliever. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the school’s vision and mission, ensuring students acquire excellent knowledge and skills to achieve their targets and progress in their education.
Key Responsibilities
Lesson Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the school's vision and mission.
Curriculum Development: Collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans for the curriculum.
Student Progress: Ensure students acquire excellent knowledge and skills to achieve their targets and prepare for the next stage of their education.
Documentation: Produce essential documents including Unit plans, Records of Work, Course outlines, and class analyses.
Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate lessons to match learners’ needs effectively.
Engagement: Involve learners in diverse activities such as storytelling, role plays, and recognition of numbers and letters.
Classroom Environment: Display learners’ work in the classroom to showcase their abilities and projects.
Excursions: Plan regular excursions to expose students to different environments.
Behavioral Guidance: Observe children's behavior and help them improve by building self-confidence and teaching social values. Guide learners with learning differences and behavioral challenges.
Reporting: Manage and update progress reports for children and communicate with parents.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Years Education from a recognized University.
Professional Registration: Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Teaching Ability: Demonstrated ability to teach all learning areas at the Early Year Education level.
Curriculum Knowledge: Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: At least 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience in a reputable school.
ICT Proficiency: Good ICT skills, especially in the use of MS Office applications.
Core Competencies: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Compliance: A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
