Kenyatta University is seeking a highly qualified professional for the position of Chief Legal Officer – Grade 15. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the University's legal function, providing expert legal counsel to the University Management Board and Council, and ensuring the institution operates within all legal and regulatory frameworks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Legal Function Management: Oversee and manage all activities carried out by the University's legal department.
Legal Counsel: Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to the University Management Board and the University Council.
Document Coordination: Coordinate the preparation and review of all University legal documents and contracts.
Policy Implementation: Interpret and implement University Statutes, Terms and Conditions of Service, Collective Agreements, and other legally binding documents.
Property Management: Offer professional legal advice to the University regarding the management, acquisition, and disposal of property.
Compliance: Ensure the University's legal and regulatory frameworks are legally compliant through constant monitoring and review.
Key Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or other related areas.
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Valid Practicing Certificate.
Membership to a relevant professional body – Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
At least seven (7) years of working experience in a large corporation, currently holding a similar or equivalent position.
CPS (K) qualification will be an added advantage.
