Job Description
UNICEF is seeking a Chief, Information Technology Audits (P-5) to join the Office of Internal Audit & Investigation (OIAI) in Nairobi. This high-level role provides leadership for the unit, including strategic direction and oversight of the unit’s portfolio of audit and advisory engagements. The Chief ensures that all engagements are conducted according to international standards and the OIAI Charter, focusing on risk-based, efficient audits that achieve maximum value and impact for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership of Unit (40%)
Manage and provide strategic direction to individual staff and engagement teams.
Ensure outputs are of the highest quality and communicate results effectively using agile methodologies.
Provide strategic and technical guidance to audit teams, ensuring full use of technology and analytics.
Review and approve high-quality work products, including engagement plans and audit reports for Director review.
Establish and maintain productive relationships with senior managers across UNICEF and external stakeholders.
People Management (20%)
Establish performance plans, address skills gaps, and provide objective feedback and mentoring to staff.
Conduct performance appraisals and lead career discussions with assigned staff.
Promote an environment of management excellence, fostering well-being, diversity, and inclusion.
Manage recruitment of high-caliber staff and oversee virtual team processes.
Thematic Focus (20%)
Serve as the focal point for assigned thematic, geographic, or functional areas.
Monitor emerging risks and ensure the OIAI risk register and work plans are updated accordingly.
Build and maintain relationships with leadership in assigned areas of responsibility.
Leadership of OIAI and the Audit Section (20%)
Participate in the management of the Internal Audit Section as part of the OIAI leadership team.
Contribute to risk-based work planning activities and respond to emerging organizational risks.
Act as a thought leader on innovations and best practices in internal auditing globally.
Lead the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and international auditing standards.
